About the event

About This Event

Take a trip out to the countryside for a foraging field day! Join Maria Wesserle and Four Season Foraging to learn about wild harvesting of plants and mushrooms in rural areas. We will discuss laws and ethics around foraging, as well as identification, harvest, and preparation of edible species. Plant and mushroom species that we may find include nettle seeds, elderberries, hen of the woods, puffball mushrooms, and more! Bring your basket, as we will be able to sustainably harvest wild edibles that we find!

This class will require a lot of walking since things are more spread out in rural areas. Suggested age 14 and up (those under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.)

This event is being held at RecuperAcres, which is about 40 minutes west of Minneapolis.

Accessibility: we will be hiking on and off trail and may do some bushwhacking, going up and down hills, and walking over logs and other obstacles. Total distance traveled will be about 2 miles.

Sliding scale $50 - $70.

For more details, please email info@fourseasonforaging.com or call 612-440-5958.

Registration

Space is limited to better encourage participatory learning. Please register before Saturday, September 28th, 2pm.

Three price levels are listed for adults: Sustainer at $70, Intermediate at $60, and Budget at $50. Payment is self-selected. Please pay as much as you can, and keep in mind that the sliding scale model is meant for folks who are often underrepresented at foraging events, including people of low wealth, BIPOC folks, and people in the LGBTQ+ community.

Suggested age 14 and up. You must be 18 to register. People age 17 and under are welcome as long as they are accompanied by an adult; that adult should register on their behalf. Kids 12 and under attend for free; those 13 and over are full price.
